What is Kuk Sool Won? |

|

|
"Kuk Sool Won , which can be translated as Korean National Martial Arts
Association, is a systematic study of all of the traditional fighting arts
which together comprise the martial arts history of the Korean nation.
As such, Kuk Sool Won is an extremely well organised system of martial arts
which seeks to integrate and explore all aspects of the traditional Korean
martial arts.
As a martial arts system, Kuk Sool Won covers the entire spectrum of the
traditional Asian fighting arts and techniques of body conditioning, as well as
mental development and traditional weapons training.
...Kuk Sool Won also includes the study of healing techniques, the
development of internal power and physical conditioning. Training in Kuk
Sool also helps to instill self confidence and self discipline, a calm self
assurance, and the psychological and spiritual values which are traditionally
associated with the martial art character. Mental and physical well-being
is of primary importance in Kuk Sool Won. "

Essentially, "Kuk Sool Won combines the skills of Aikido throwing principles
with Jiu-Jitsu locking and joint breaking techniques. Add the skills of
Kobudo weaponry together with the devastating kicks of Taekwondo and mix
thoroughly with Karate hand strikes and the falling acrobatics of Shaolin.
Inject ki energy, liberally sprinkle with the techniques and knowledge of an
alternative medicine/acupuncture practitioner, then spend two life times putting
them all together into an operational system of self defence and a way of
living. You might have something which begins to resemble the fantastic
Korean Art of Kuk Sool"
